Know where your files live.

Quick start

1. Open the Workspace and select Add files, or drag files into the file area.
2. Create folders to separate projects or topics.
3. Select a file name to download a fresh copy to your device.
4. Remove items when you no longer need them locally.

How storage works

Files and folder records are written to IndexedDB, a database built into modern browsers. NordStash reads and writes that database directly on your device; file contents are not sent to a NordStash storage service.

What “local” means

Another browser, another browser profile, private browsing, or another device has a separate database. NordStash does not synchronize those copies.

Files and folders

The workspace shows file names, stored sizes, and the time each item was added. Folders can contain files and more folders. Deleting a folder also deletes everything inside it after confirmation.

Drag and drop

Drop one or more files anywhere inside the file area. They are added to the folder currently shown in the breadcrumb trail.

Backup and recovery

NordStash is a working space, not a backup system. Download copies of anything you cannot replace. If browser storage is cleared, evicted, corrupted, or lost with the device, NordStash cannot restore the files.

Storage limits

Available space depends on your browser, device, free disk space, and browser storage policy. The usage meter reports stored file bytes and, when available, the browser’s estimated quota. A browser can refuse a large file when the quota is reached.

• Keep the tab open until a large file finishes saving.
• Avoid private browsing for anything you want to retain.
• Use Clear storage only when you are ready to remove the whole workspace.
